Thursday
What a long hard day! There was not much variety today just a lot of pavement along side a coastal road. Mind you, I did bring it upon myself deciding that I wasn’t going to take the adventurous option inland adding another 7 kms to the journey or the clamber over jagged rocks for 200 metres for that “off road” experience! So just padded along past fisheries and pagodas. It was still interesting with peace and quiet, just long.
I had been toying with the idea of climbing the sunrise peak even thinking of going early enough to see the sunrise. As mentioned yesterday I was put off by the cloudy forecast. It was fine.
Decided to climb in the end. Not as steep as I thought and worth the effort. The kind gentleman at the ticket booth looked after my pack so I didn’t have to carry that up!
I would have regretted it if I had let
it go.
The rest of the day was a constant plod. I do have to admit that early on I followed the wrong marker and ended up cutting off 5 kms! I only discovered what happened when I reached the mid way stamp station within an hour! Subconsciously I thought the day would be a breeze!
By 3:30pm I was done. Out came the phone and Booking.com.
Found a cheap dorm room with kitchen and bathroom. Was the only one there – score.
Tomorrow is my last day walking and it will be a long one! In fact the longest stage on the Olle Trail.
Add to that the 3 kms I didn’t finish today! Booked a nice hotel for tomorrow night so I have something to look forward to.
